Wish you a Very Happy New Year filled with success, joy and prosperity. Thank you for your readership, support and inspiration.
As 2023 is replaced and I write my 94th article in this ‘Destination Mindset’, I reflect, retrospect and find that this new year has brought with it new expectations and goals for each one of us. Expect change and churn this year for sure as change is the only constant. While technology will trigger new products and services, the way we work will also change further. Those in the professional services industry will need to track and really walk the talk more effectively. Time will become a crucial asset that will need to be leveraged with greater impact.
Human capital will be more valued than ever in 2024, inclusivity will be key in organisational development and growth. Empathy will continue to be an essential skill for leaders and connect with both internal teams and external customers will boost business success and customer satisfaction. In the PR Industry strategic planning will give way to strategic execution. Customers will benchmark products and services increasingly to global brands given the convergence of local and global. Excellence will be a basic given. Product and service differentiator will rule the roost for purchase motivation.
What are the three fundamental changes that you need to make to evolve into a winning 2024 mindset?
Be real
There is this saying ‘Wake up and smell the coffee’. Today’s new paradigm is ‘surf the wave of change’. 2024 is a year of hope and resurgence and the human psyche is wired to foster in stability. The pandemic scare continues to lurk in the human mind, but climate change and economic uncertainty is the new worry as global developments continue to unfold. Rain and floods, earthquakes, weather changes all add to human insecurity and instability. In this ever-changing world, you need to be real. Keep track and be in touch or suddenly you might find yourself in the rapids. Job function requirements are in flux. Strong people who like to upskill and are steady leaders will progress and prosper. Keep a close tab on the way your organisation moves forward and give it your best shot. This is your time to contribute to the need of the hour.
Embrace change and transformation
Let go of rigidity of thought and mind. As organisations are racing to stay ahead of inflation and losses because of the pandemic- new experiments, innovation and new and modern methods of delivering work are in. Stay ahead by embracing change in 2024 and adapting quickly to the new ways of doing things in your organisation. Fast learners and early adopters will find greater success in this new year. Volunteer for new assignments and prove your capabilities for multitasking. Understand the goals of your organisation and align, there will be many opportunities for performers in change. The customer will get more value from your competition as aggressive market development takes forefront. Woo your loyal customers to successfully retain them.
Humanise
In this new era of increased empathy, build genuine relationships with peers, superiors and customers with the magic ‘E’ word. ‘Emotion’. There is no magic wand you need to wave here. Just continuous positive moments of truth with all these key stakeholders. Build reliability, trust and relationships. Team work will get the highest priority in 2024 as it creates a multiplier effect. Build your interpersonal skills create a circle of work colleagues with whom you set new standards in professional excellence. The only aspect of AI that still has its weak links is that it can never replace humans. Boost your humane qualities through positive energy and happiness in this world where mental health problems are rife and loneliness is the biggest threat to mankind
