Glass half full or half empty? An optimist’s perception or a reflection of a well-entrenched positive mindset?
The challenges of living in the world today
Development and evolution benefits humankind. We all know that Dinosaurs are extinct because they could not adapt to change. Change today is at a faster pace and from all sides, health and nature included. The pace of life has become faster than ever. Everyone is in so much hurry to reach their destination but have forgotten to enjoy the journey as they move fast forward. So, what happens in the process? Many get caught in the vortex of negativity. Thinking of the worst and preparing for it becomes a habit. Stress creeps in and affects your overall system. Positive mindset does not mean that you divorce yourself from reality, its just being your best self to handle situations better. Its true that tough times do not last, tough people with positive mindsets do!
What is positive mindset?
Having a positive mindset, or positive mental attitude, means that you are optimistic about the world around you, and you expect that good things will happen to you. In contrast, a negative attitude, or mindset, indicates that you expect bad things to happen and struggle to perceive the world in a positive way. some studies show that personality traits such as optimism and pessimism can affect many areas of your health and well-being. The positive thinking that usually comes with optimism is a key part of effective stress management. A positive mindset results in how you treat life and work. How you lead and handle crisis and of course the person you become at home and your workplace
How you develop a realistic positive mindset
Positive mindset is not being mindlessly optimistic. Its an outlook of positivity, finding opportunity in crisis and developing a heightened sense of relaxed awareness. Having Positive mindset starts with gratitude and humility. This results in a happy you and a happy person attracts people. In today’s era of negativity, happiness glows like a bright light in a dark room. A positive mindset reflects in your behavior. Positive attitude means positive thinking. It is a mental attitude that focuses on the bright side of life. It is a mindset that uses the words, “I can”, and “it is possible”. Developing a positive mindset is not easy it requires fundamental change in the way are or the way you have become. Often some people are naturally wired to have a negative mindset, changing from there becomes hard. But as they say, ‘nothing is impossible’!
Easy steps to evolve to a positive mindset
Believe me, a positive mindset changes press releases and how you communicate. When you become a problem solver from a fault finder, your communication addresses hope and recovery. It does not erode credibility of your communication but creates a balanced story which resonates better with your target audience in an era where there are negative stories everywhere and these efforts are not to propagate false hope.
The first step is to do a self-analysis of how critical you are as a person. Are you negatively wired? Were you always like this? How were you before? Then you identify the areas you want to change to achieve a positive mindset. You can start small by focusing on one area to approach in a more positive way. Check yourself every day to see that the changes are happening in real time. Sometimes being negative becomes a habit. Make humor an ally. Surround yourselves with positive people. Map your mindset change. If possible, create a buddy who helps you monitor your transition. Above all, give it a genuine attempt.
As usual I end with a quote ‘When you think positive – good things happen’
