Most of us leverage our strengths, eliminate our weaknesses, exploit our opportunities and mitigate our threats in following our path of sustainable progress. However, the passion first mindset is a state of mind where the individual singles out their unique and disruptive strengths, their born talents and interests and use them in a focussed manner to achieve their goals and successes. Everyone is an inherent genius and the passion first mindset encourages you to develop your own uniqueness of talent and positivity to share it with the world while you gallop ahead in your chosen career path.
Here are some ways you can evolve to a passion first mindset
Make passion your second nature
They say that passion always knocks the doors of a passionate professional. Today’s world expects excellence as a taken. The expectation bar has been raised considerably in today’s competitive world where even perfection is not enough! Passion reflects complete focus and depth in whatever you do. You adopt an unlimited multi scope approach and an intensity so deep that your sparkles and outshines anyone else. But before you even set off on the path of the passion first mindset, you need to truly do a realistic self-reflection to realise your interest and self-values. Let also your passion help you decide your purpose and align it to real life, opportunities and the earning prospects in that domain. Be the captain of your individual ship and decide your voyage path while you do a reality check on capacity, capability and ensure that you have chosen the best option.
Discover and nurture your passions
There is only one person who will know what your passions are. You, yourself. Do a deep retrospection to identify things in your life that make you feel satisfied, excited, motivated or fulfilled is key to finding your passion. The ideal state to be in is to work in a domain which you are passionate. Let me give you an example. I am a trained Indian classical vocalist but opted for a career where my earnings would be stable and consistent, although I did my bit with singing at stage shows as well as playback singing. We have a friend circle where a famous playback singer and performer often invites us to his house where his orchestra is present and all of us assemble and sing. We get lost in music wonderland and when it’s time to get back to our normal lives this singer always sees us off with this parting statement “Tomorrow morning you will get back to your boring jobs but my morning will start with this same orchestra”!
Learn to love what you do
Often we are not fortunate to get a job in an area where we wanted to be. When are on the verge of completing our education, we are surrounded by options of what other people, especially in our families want us to be. Unfortunately a lot of these suggestions are from the unfulfilled dreams of our family members. Yes, in today’s world career counsellors are a big help as they match our abilities to opportunities. Here is when we should be bold to state our passions and even try and cover any gaps for us through education and research for us to get in, enjoy, succeed and be happy. Even if you do not get a job that you wanted but took up a job since you had no other choice, learn to love what you do. Move the mental block you might have and just put in all you have in learning and delivering what you need to do. You never know, you may discover a new passion!
Before there is passion you must have interest, belief and ability. Only then will success show its brilliant self.
