The amazing Re-Growth Mindset

POSTED BY: Amitesh Banerjee 15 September 2025

I have written about several mindsets in this column titled ‘Destination Mindset’ in this esteemed trade publication Reputation Today, India’s First magazine for Public Relations and Communications professionals. But according to most management gurus, the growth mindset is the most significant and important mindset to evolve to. Actually, this is very true. In all the 155 articles I have penned to date, they are all parts of mental behaviour change which add a shining gleam to your existing growth mindset. You need to carefully audit your brain and behaviour vibe to be able decipher your gaps and improve on them with tangible mindset change and see how your success becomes more sustainable and progress.

“A growth mindset” as conceived by Stanford psychologist Carol Dweck and colleagues, “is the belief that a person’s capacities and talents can be improved over time. “Fair enough but in this world of constant change, fast speed development and technology leaping ahead at the speed of light, one needs to take stock more often of where the person’s capacity and talent development is headed. This essentially is the amazing Re-Growth Mindset.

“This continual process of testing an idea, learning from the results, and reiterating the product is only possible with a growth mindset.” (Harvard Business School)

Once again here are some foundational steps to take to evolve to the Re-Growth Mindset. As with evolution to any mindset, please be committed, determined to climb these foundational steps as this is not an escalator which will automatically take you there. For mindset evolution there is no magic wand!

Flexible Purpose

While analysing your environment, professional goals and where you should go, your own professional or personal purpose do build in flexibility. Let your purpose not just become a mindless habit. You need to build a lever to adapt and upgrade whenever you need to. This need can come with a new opportunity, a core change in your work responsibilities, new competition, new mission and more. This flexible purpose will help you fit in fast with your new challenge of life and therefore be miles ahead of the others.

Belief in your developable skills

You need to believe in yourself completely and the fact that you can do much more. Everyone is born with capabilities and abilities. No baby comes out of the womb and says hello and then run real fast. There are child prodigies of course but many who are born with developable skills that lie beneath sand mounds of lack of effort or the mindset to go beyond, and as they say, raise the bar. Build up confidence to put in a genuine effort to develop your skills. Practice makes it perfect

Love overcoming challenges

We human beings are wired to react negatively to challenges. We by nature love a smooth ride of life and hate bumps. What if we let go of our complacency and look forward to challenges? If you look at your own challenges that you faced, think back. Did you not feel a sense of deep satisfaction when you overcame them? Learning to face challenges prepares you for learning and relearning. As you know, both growth and regrowth mindsets get nurtured with new learnings and challenge muscles

Let collaboration be your prime passion

Someone once said to me in a marketing class that the 4 Ps of marketing can be in place firmly (Product, Price, Place and Promotion) but without the 5th P (People) real marketing cannot happen. The Re-Growth Mindset needs you to be obsessed with collaboration, so that you create mutually beneficial collaborations and partnerships. Any business leader today focusses on their collaborations and reserves multiple channels of business growth and reputation growth. This is why in today’s parlance; network is the true net worth!

Just self-motivate

No one will motivate you as much as you can motivate yourself in the path of evolving to a Re-Growth Mindset. Just relentlessly self-motivate.

“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.” Albert Einstein
