Science has developed well now under present regime and media contribute to growth of science in India America is leading in science under both Joe Biden and Trump presidencies and it is better with PM Modi and in TN under CM Stalin. Media need to portray achievements of these people and win rewards for them for doing good work. PM Modi has launched several developmental works like launching of airports inaugurating many facilities like he and CM Vijay had launched metro line in Chennai recently.
Science makes Mankind good and brings comfort to people in providing consumer goods in great numbers. The space exploration of Russia US has made possible in launching TV broadcasting and many telecommunication facilities in a big way of using outer space and satellites. Rajiv Gandhi privatized telephony and many private telecommunication companies entered the sector greatly benefitting all. India is leading in car manufacturing including small cars under present regime and none can think India is a third world country, and credit goes to PM Modi. Stewardship
Development is modernisation and westernisation, and it has set dominant paradigm of rapid industrialisation and education have passed away. Development is also removal of poverty lessening of disparities between region castes and classes. It is not in hands of aid giving nations but in hands of ourselves. Only. Media carry more entertainment and it is needed also as mega serials dominate TV entertainment. TV is preferred over other media for entertainment and it is continuing. During Regan era more African American artistes dominated national scene in America and earned big and it promoted racial integration also. TV serials as Riptide Remington Steele Knots Landing Mimi Vice Jefferson Threes Company Different Strokes dominated TV scenario in the US. In India during late 80s Ramayana Mahabharatha Krishna dominated Doordarshan and it earned big. With the introduction of cable TV in early 90s Sun TV earns 3000 crores of rupees, and it is leading TV channel in South India. TV mega serials as Chithi Kolangal Nadaswaram all dominate Sin TV Tamil channels for quite some time and are leading in advertisement revenues.
Science does not find much space in any medium much and TV channels should take interest in science news. Works done in government and private science institutions as IITs and IISc should find space in TV channels or other media and should be told in a interesting way. This sort of development reporting should be emphasized by all governments and media should pay attention to these also. Scientific exchanges between India and other nations should receive proper attention from all media also and it has to be given top priority/
Development should be on a sustainable mode, and destructive developmental models and alien models of development should be rejected. What is right for India and Indian culture and local situations to be followed closely. The side effects of wrong modernisation are more, and it is affecting developed western nations also and such situations should be studied carefully before taking up wrong modernization and westernization. What is right for the sub-continent should be followed and used in India and it is being done in a great way. All parties should be consulted in development and modernisation, and media have a role to play in development process, and science should be encouraged so that all benefit and not just elite in fruits of development.
