AI is Quick but Brand Custodians Touch Hearts

POSTED BY: Chhavi Sharma 14 August 2025

In recent times we have all witnessed how AI has been making headlines in nearly every industry, & our industry – PR is no less of an exception now. From giving prompts to create press release drafts to crunching data within seconds, AI promises utmost speed, efficiency, and scale. But here’s the catch: just because something is faster doesn’t mean it’s better.

Traditional PR, with its messy human touch, gut instincts, and relationship-first approach, still holds an edge that algorithms can’t replicate at least, not yet.

Relationships > Reach

AI may scan databases and pull out media contacts in seconds, but it still can’t build trust. In PR, that legit means everything. A seasoned PR professional even knows how journalists would prefer their coffee, what kind of stories excite them, and when not to bother them. These nuances come from years of genuine relationship-building, and investing time in knowing them, something AI can only imitate, not truly create.

Emotional Intelligence < Still Human Territory

PR isn’t just about sending the right message rather it is about reading the room. A traditional PR professional can sense when a brand’s tone might come off as opportunistic during a crisis or when humor will land flat. AI works with data; humans work with emotions, empathy, and cultural intuition. And when a single wrong sentence can spark backlash, that human judgment is priceless.

Storytelling < with Soul

AI can create text which reads like a story, however the grit of a founder’s journey, the magic of a creative campaign, and the pulse of a community movement truly comes alive when paired with human heart and vision. Storytelling in PR isn’t just assembling words, it’s weaving authenticity, vulnerability, and vision into a narrative. Traditional PR thrives because it treats stories as living, breathing experiences, not just as “content pieces.”

The Trust Factor

We live in a time where audiences are growing more skeptical of “perfect” messaging. AI-polished content can sometimes feel too smooth, & therefore, less believable. Traditional PR with its human imperfections and ability to show vulnerability, often resonates more deeply.

The Sweet Spot: PR + AI

This isn’t a “humans v/s machines” story. The future isn’t AI replacing PR, it’s AI assisting PR. Let AI handle the time-consuming grunt work: research, data analysis, media monitoring. Let traditional PR professionals do what they do best: building relationships, crafting emotionally charged stories, and making judgment calls that algorithms can’t.

Because at the end of the day, PR isn’t just about getting a brand seen. It’s about making a brand felt. And for now, that’s still a job for humans with a little AI backup.
