Communication strategies are important in reaching people on telling a project seeking cooperation and making it a success. It includes media strategies outreach strategies and feedback effectively to reach people with messages.  Communication strategies have been changing since new media have come and technology has come among others.

MOHFW launched RCH project during 1990s, and its communication strategies were production of advertisement films preparing articles and content analyses of already produced jingles.  It also commissioned individuals and NGOs and prepared various media and health reports pertaining MOHFW.  IAMWARM project during late 2000s prepared communication strategy for the project and had local cable TV wall paintings pamphlets gram sabhas and reach out to districts to promote the project.

Similarly, ONGC experienced fire in Mumbai offshore oil wells and used media as communication strategy to tell fire in oil wells is unavoidable.  The Indian cancer society used print advertisements to highlight life after cancer it is worth living. The Tree Mile Accident happened in Harrisburg Pennsylvania nuclear station had informed people on media about accident and steps to be taken to avoid radiation leaks.

NBC in the US had used news releases and video news reels to tell launching of shows in its network and traffic police everywhere launches road safety campaigns frequently.  Kerala Tourism launched Gods own country to promote Kerala and Tamil Nadu tourism promoted temples in enchanting Tamil Nadu tourism campaign since MGR time

During Indira Gandhi period SITE TV experiment was launched with US aid and Dr Manmohan Singh former PM started many cancer hospitals and aided ailing PSUs.  AP CM Chanra Babu Naidu promotes startups, and he visited US met Bill Gates the American industrialist to start business in his state.   Bill Gates in turn visited AP recently and Chandra Babu Naidu received him and some deals were signed.

Many such instances show communication and media strategies working effectively.  Former TN CM MK Stalin launched many schemes such as free bus travel for women and many others and used media to promote these.

Communication strategies for IAMWARM project has reaching big farmers during phase I period and rest during second phase according to project director.   It is because it is easier to do in such a way than other ways. Health ministry prepared jingles and songs and such were broadcast so people could work with ministry effectively.  Content analysis of prepared audio content is done to show case success of ministry’s programs

Media reach and media feedback are also important in communication strategies for any sector. The objective is to communicate well so that all stake holders can be reached and also take the project to people and make them work accordingly and make the scheme a success. With these goals communication strategies are formed and are taken to public.  In many private sectors also communication strategies are created but have different yard sticks and different stake holders.

Today media are playing powerful role in success of any project and government people, and all sectors are aware of this.  Communication strategies will play leading role in any government or private sector project in coming days
