Political advertising has come about in a big way as in India Narendra Modi’s party of BJP advertised in 2024 elections in a big way. It focused on developments done during their rule and achievements made in the field etc. The congress led by Rahul Gandhi focused on employment generation and ideals closed to that party and even in America in 2024 The Republican party led by Trump focused on America First and provision of jobs to Americans on a priority. The Democratic party led by Kamala Harris shows cased President Joe Bidens achievements in fields like Medicare etc.
Millions are spent on advertising by companies to promote products and services alike and it has come to politics now Trump appealed to young white Americans to vote for him 2024 US presidential elections saying he will bring back America on track. 2024 India elections witnessed tough contests between PM Modi and Congress led by Rahul Gandhi in that BJP had asked votes for development made so far and Congress for employment and hopes for better future for citizens
Political advertising is important in creating hopes for candidates and for informing citizens on what has been the agenda and how things go about It was there during Indira Gandhi times and candidates have used it to reach people in mass number. In developed democracies there is negative twist to elections criticizing opposition candidates for their fault policies and programs
BJP used the reservation policy and strongly suggested to vote for such mandate and it made it in big way Congress banked on employment generation and pro poor and pro middle class ideals and schemes and it made it to emerge as largest opposition party BJP used backward class leaders and others to speak and canvass for them in 2024 elections in big ways while congress stressed family oriented themes and put Gandhi family first in by gone elections Both BJP and Congress used advertising and commercials heavily to get across parties people and regions
PM Modi speeches and messages were advertised so also his thrust on development while congress emphasized employment generation and working for poor Even in the US Trump campaigned for America First Ronald Reagan during his days asked for continuation of 4-year term and tax cuts and the like. In America since capitalism is at peak their candidates’ campaign for women empowerment and free enterprise and ideals close to home The democratic party canvassed for LGTQ rights, and other such issues modernization wants to achieve in society In America during recent elections Trumps personal vision and party ideals were given importance Joe Biden the outgoing president
Has not lost the election and he has not contested this time Kamala Harris spoke of immigrant dreams and American ideals in advertisements PM Modi spoke of vast work he did in last 10 years and asked people to vote for him to continue good work.
What needs to be done
Political advertising is needed to promote democracy and better market system and free enterprise in all societies Candidates need to win elections to be in office as elections play important role in democracies in many ways. PM Modi emerged winner because media and advertising made great impact and showed his progress in great ways. Trump in America emerged winner in 2024 presidential elections because he spoke America first and his advertisements projected local Americans in a big way to be beneficiary of Republican party Earlier Indira Gandhi emerged victorious in projecting herself as best ruler in being with Indian people in large numbers When Janatha party came in 1977 they invited Carter the American president to lecture in parliament and stood as voice of democracy and free enterprise. Although India has economic problems politics is motivated to appease weaker women and marginalized communities in large number America is different in being good to Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi in Ronald Reagan way and Republican way to stop switching from democratic format Political advertising plays a big role in choosing people for office and when Dr Manmohan Singh became PM of India under congress India maintained strategic dialogue with that nation Advertisements make big role in winning a candidates election as it promotes products in many ways in days to come.
