Mental health is one of the biggest concerns worldwide in society today. There have been recent unexpected events and changes that have impacted mankind and in turn have changed mindsets. These include climate change, increased erosion of humanity and human values, materialism and emerging transactional relationships. Above all the Pandemic has left us alone for the moment and is still lurking around in the shadows but its impact on mental health is deep and life changing. The problem is that like most mental health professionals profess, there are many who have mental health problems who don’t come out in the open or many who themselves don’t know that they have these problems.
The root cause of mental health is a ‘negative thinking mindset’. The state of your mind, dictates the state of your health and well-being. When you have a ‘positive thinking mindset’ your positivity boosts self confidence and in turn happiness which make you become your best version. You look at an opportunity in every threat and pause at a crisis sure that you will come out of it. On the other hand a ‘negative thinking mindset’ makes you a negative person, loose sense of self esteem and confidence. You find it difficult to complete simple tasks. You get frustrated and irritable. And while all this is happening to you, stress hits you pumping chemicals into your system and your health goes for a complete toss.
What are the easy steps to evolve into a ‘Positive thinking’ mindset?
Be fanatically positive. Think positive act positive and be a positivity beacon. When your approach is positivity many doors start to open. This is because when you are positive everything seems possible. You turn from being a fault finder into a problem solver. People take to you easily and follow you because you become a cool leader who knows the way, shows the way and also goes the way! This does not mean that you become a blind optimist but you stop negative speak to yourself and confuse your logical self. Simply said, transform into a state where you just think it will and can happy. From cannot do to can do!
Happiness today is a very valuable state of mind. If you notice carefully unhappiness comes from unfulfilled desires and dreams. Nowadays people have everything are also unhappy. That’s because we keep wanting more and even more, constantly even if we get what we deserve. Happiness comes from simple things because we are born happy people. But today’s definition of happiness has changed. Envy, greed, disruption are the engines of life for many. Be happy with what you have and enjoy every day. Because today is all that you have. That’s why it’s called the ‘present’!
When you smile the world smiles with you, but everyone knows a fake smile and that never works. Smile from your iheart and soul. Once you have become positive and happy, you will find it easy to smile. Try smiling now as you read this column. You will feel relaxed immediately. This is God’s magic. In your office smile as your eyes connect with your colleagues. It spreads positivity and happiness.
Keeping fit gives great energy and to be a positivity beacon you need lots of energy. Being fit keeps you healthy too and we know that a healthy body houses a healthy mind. This column is about the mind. Mindset is literally how your mind is set. When you don’t exercise, your mind and body become sluggish. But when you are active, you are bouncing all over the place. That makes you positive for sure!
