Transit To A Stress Repellent Mindset

Stress today has developed to be a silent killer of physical and mental health. With each passing day, stress develops further in our system. Toxic stress actually has a damaging impact and leads to a bouquet of health problems and dilutes our quality of life. Perfectly healthy and happy human beings can suddenly develop cardiovascular problems, digestive issues, immune system failure, tension and joint pains, insomnia and various imbalances. The result of chronic stress changes our entire personality and mental health balances. You are hit by anxiety and depression, mood swings and irritability and severe relationship problems.

Its all in the mind

Stress lies in the mind and how we interpret our state of stress. More than that, how we react to stress. Much of stress plays on your emotional state. It draws you into a whirlpool of chaos and complete confusion. The magic key of stress is that it can all be controlled by your mind. Imagine how you can reduce or even eliminate its ill effects by your mind control. This column today focusses on how you can actually repel stress, by evolving into a new mindset. However, nothing is easy to achieve- especially evolving to a new mindset, but as human history clearly shows, nothing is difficult to achieve either.

Just start with a firm resolve

A change of mindset is a positive step in your life as the results give a lifetime of future success and therefore happiness. However, replacing a hard wiring in your nature is a different journey all together. Just imagine if you change your residence, it takes you a long time to get used to your new environment. If your fridge for example was in the living room in your earlier residence, when in your new residence you suddenly need the fridge, you end up involuntarily in your living room only to realise that in your new home the fridge is located in the kitchen! It all starts with a firm resolve to adapt and change your nature.

Understand the dynamics of a stress repellent mindset

Let’s compare a stress repellent mindset to a mosquito repellent spray. When a closed room area gets infested with mosquitoes, a repellent spray just kills these irritating insects and drives them away. Transiting into a stress repellent mindset is actually taking your mind to a pre-emptive state, where you have built into your mind system to bounce off stress. You almost become immune to stress. Is this possible? Of course. How do humans learn to walk and then to run? How do we learn how to swim and therefore know how to survive in water and not drown. The human brain is always ready to learn, you just need to teach it well

Avoid anxiety to beat stress

Anxiety as a habit or part of your nature should be avoided to transit into a stress repellent mindset. Actually, it’s an odd circle. Stress creates anxiety and further anxiety creates more stress. Identify your anxiety triggers as a first step as life is full of ups and downs literally. Remember, everyone’s anxiety trigger is different. Once you have identified your anxiety triggers, just watch out for them and manage them effectively. This is a huge step in the right direction. While avoiding anxiety also review your expectations. Sometimes your expectations are not aligned to reality. This gap creates the biggest stress

Support your happy hormones

Once you learnt the benefits of calming your mind, body and souls through wellness and relaxation techniques also support your happy hormones to combat the harmful hormones like cortisol that get emitted in your health system as a consequence of stress. Listen to the music that you like, get good rest to pump up your Dopamine. Meditate or go for a walk to get your body to secrete Serotonin, pet your dog or talk to your peers to boost Oxytocin. Eat a chocolate or do cardio exercises to get your Endorphin levels moving!

“Our anxiety does not come from thinking about the future, but from wanting to control it.”
