Even before you start reading this book by Abhishek Chatterjee (a voice artist), what intrigues you about it is the title ‘Dizygotic Twins’. A little research into the subject will tell you that dizygotic twins, also known as fraternal twins, result from the fertilisation of two separate eggs by two separate sperms, resulting in a genetic similarity no greater than that of any other siblings. They can simply be thought of as siblings who are born at the same time. They share averagely 50 percent of their genes, and their blood types and sex can be either same or different.
So why this name?
There are two parts to this book. In the first part the author imagines a good entity designing and creating this universe and life, wherein he also delves into the possible reasons behind it. In the second part, he reimagines the conceptualisation of the universe by a negative element. Here too he probes into the possible reasons for this thought process. Hence the title ‘Dizygotic Twins’, as both the thought processes / imaginations are his brainchild.
Synopsis
At some point(s) of time, we all think about this universe, earth and life; and the things (good and bad) happening around us. But we never deeply delve into the why, what, when, who, where and how of these. This is exactly where the author takes over from all by himself. He intensely introspects every such question that has haunted his mind about the universe and life and tries to imagine the reasons for most of the things happening around us. He has touched upon various aspects of life, right from the creation and purpose to the common conflicts and their reasons. He has also shared his thoughts on how human life can be made less complicated and has put a great amount of emphasis on the subject of parenting. There is also a very interesting and thought provoking segment on anti-natalism.
At various points in the book, the author has reiterated that he is not here to pass any judgement, and that most of his thoughts are figments of his imagination. In a nutshell, ‘Dizygotic Twins’ is his take on life and genesis.

Anyone who reads this book will be able to connect with the author’s imaginations at one or more points. His thought process resonates at many levels for everyone. And with his logical imagination, he provides practical and believable rationale to several doubts we nurture in our minds but never seriously bother or try to find reasonable clarifications to.
