The cool ‘Chilled out Mindset’

Stress is a taken today. Whether negative or positive stress, it’s really become a part of our lifestyle. The key driver of stress is the need to be successfully competent in the shortest period of time. Time itself which trickles past has become more valuable over the ages. The conundrum is that – while time is limited our needs and wants are unlimited, this leaves us humans in a state of constant chaos. Multitasking, near perfection outputs, out of the box thinking lead to intense quick thinking- fertile grounds for stress to thrive. Yet the human mind and body does not accept a state of perpetual stress. We are just not wired to be in a ‘fight or flight’ mental state, all the time.

Nobody likes a jittery person or a person who is not balanced. But these are symptoms of high stress. Anger, impatience, being rude are just your stress symptoms going haywire. ‘Chilled out’ bosses or even friends are preferred today. They shine out like a lighthouse in the dark sea. In a world of stress who likes to hang out with stressed and toxic people?

Like all mindsets the cool ‘Chilled out mindset’ is within reach. However, be warned. Do not just put on this mindset like a disguise. Don’t pretend to be a calm swan while you paddle away like mad under the waters with your stressors. Eliminate stress, it’s good neither for your physical nor mental health.

Here are three fundamental steps you can take-

Accept stress

Most of us do not accept stress and our body and mind resists stress instead of finding solutions and mitigating stress. Just lock yourself in one day and realistically list out your stressors. Once you have honestly listed out these including the smallest stress trigger, you will instantly feel a sense of relief, as it’s all there. The next step is to accept these stressors realistically without blame games or bitterness. There will be obvious stressors that you have caused for yourself. Do not punish yourself. What is done is done. You are in it. Start looking at realistic measures on how you can get yourself out of these stressful situations. Divide your stress ocean into high tides and low tides. See the ones you can control and the ones you cannot.

Celebrate life and chill out

As soon as you have your stress elimination plan ready in front of you, it’s a moment to celebrate as you have taken a resolve to bear stress and eliminate your key stressors. The high tide of stressors will keep coming and will not stop but the biggest antidote is happiness. You can develop a state of happiness and continue to bubble in it. Look around at what you have versus what you don’t have. Look at life with your glass half full. Never half empty. Do you know that people feel happy to just hold a glass? Celebrate life with what you have. Laugh. Have fun. Let your brain release positive hormones to counter the harmful chemicals stress releases. This balance when perfected is called a ‘Chilled out Mindset’. It’s a kind of magic.

Be determined

Be determined with your newly acquired mindset, don’t let worries of stress take you over. It just takes a little slip to go back to your old state again. Be sharp focussed. Keep a stress hour everyday when you update your stressor map, eliminate stress and add the new stressors. Otherwise, stay chilled out. You got this. Create a bubble of positivity and follow it through with loads of energy. Achieve something great everyday and feel great. Above all, love yourself first. Look after your health. Eat right, sleep right and continue to dream right. Create the right work life balance. Have loads of fun. After all it’s one life you get!
