The ‘Human Touch Mindset’

I have this inbuilt quality of being humane and treating everyone as a fellow human being in this planet. Its just me. Of late I receive reactions from human beings that they do not recognise this language. Whether its an auto driver or a shop keeper or even well-educated white-collar workers, they look out of place when I reach out to them with my human touch. This actually got me thinking observing and analysing. Have people lost the human touch in them?

We have actually become robots from human beings. We just go around our business for the day with transactional relationships. Courtesy has just gone out of the window. We don’t even smile or be pleasant. In-fact being terse and to the point has become the norm. We treat another human being like we talk to Alexa! And of course, this is when we are free from our mobile and other devices. Sometimes when I ask “How are you”? People don’t know how to respond. Even if I crack a joke and make someone laugh, it looks like such an effort for them to laugh. Its as if their jaws pain when they laugh. If you look around, you will see people in luxury cars scowling. Or shoppers coming out of big retail outlets with many bags frowning.

Here is where possessing a ‘Human Touch Mindset’ becomes a differentiator. However much we have devolved and become less sensitive, a human being still values human values and craves affection. Here are some qualities of the ‘Human Touch Mindset’

Be Human

The first step towards evolving to the ‘Human Touch Mindset’ is to realise that you are a human being who lives in planet earth with other human beings. Human beings are the most evolved of all the species on earth but are born to be social and interdependent on each other. We glow in our success but thrive when we are emotionally happy, especially in the new world we live in today. Being human is developing a positive emotional quotient and treating others with respect and concern. Always remember, people treat you the way you treat them. Learn to appreciate others and acknowledge their presence. Move your ego into a waste bin, you are not the most important person for others. Learn to listen to others and indulge more in dialogue other than monologue

Develop Empathy

The best way to understand what empathy means is to literally put yourself in the shoes of someone else. For this you have to move out of your self centre and take the extra effort to understand others. A person feels an immediate sense of connection if they can sense that you understand their feelings, challenges and limitations. Also learn to read body language. Not many human beings can put their feelings into words but without realising it, their body communicates their feelings silently. As they say, the eye is a window to the mind. Once you understand how the other human being feels and learn to decode their reaction, you are on the expressway to human connect and therefore human touch

Be Happy

Everyone loves a happy human being. Joy, happiness, laughter and fun are infectious because we are wired to like these human attributes. People world over are more productive in a conducive environment. Happiness glows and lights up any area with warmth and comfort. Being a Happiness Consultant is in demand. Many organisations focus on a fun environment at work. Once you become a happiness beacon you automatically create a human touch mindset, Happiness boosts your personality positively in today’s stress filled environment but also adds a turbo spark to the people you are with. Sands of time trickle away, enjoy every moment.
Touch human beings with your presence and personality. Even in today’s mechanical world the ‘Human Touch Mindset’ has a 24-carat value!
