When you really come to think of it, positive thinking is very different from optimism or remaining blissful in the land of dreams. Positive thinking is a new way of looking at life as it flows beside you as a quick flowing river of events. It’s a realistic mindset but extremely powerful as its not just about glass half empty or glass half full. A built-in positive thinking mindset trains the brain to find out positive solutions in the most negative situations. And as we all know, there world we live in today is much more filled with negativity than ever before. The new normal comes with new values including the attempt to survive and succeed at any cost. Beg, borrow or steal!
Most of us today have a neutral to negative thinking mindset especially in the post pandemic era where a new value system has emerged. Negative thinking also harms our mental health as anything negative gets the body ready for a fight or flight. Harmful chemicals like cortisol and adrenalin start getting injected into our bloodstream as an anticipated defence mechanism and the physical harm begins. Instead, a positive thinking mindset triggers the good chemical release into our systems. Hope soars high and most often this mindset helps us focus in the good, the positive and next level solutions.
It just needs the right tuning and some efforts in the right to develop ourselves into the positive thinking mindset. I am listing some of the easier to implement actions below
Focus on the good in any situation
Any situation can overwhelm us, especially unanticipated negative situations but its all about how we react to these situations. Infact, a lot including survival in an accident depends on how we react to it. But every situation has a hidden good in them. If we are able to calmly analyse the situation we are faced with and look at the fastest and best way to resolve it, you move forward in your best interest. What happens otherwise is that first the shock paralyses us and then the other emotions like anger, disappointment etc take over and cloud our judgement extensively. Its not that you have to ignore the problem at hand or the reality you are faced with. Just approach it with optimism and positive thinking. Focus on the good in any situation and you have taken a giant stride towards developing a positive thinking mindset.
Make positive thinking your lifestyle
Today, positive human beings are the most sought-after people in the midst of mental health disorders, emerging happiness counsellors and depression. So, fan up the positivity in yourself by first enhancing your self-care. Eat healthy, sleep well and keep fit. A healthy body houses a healthy and a positive mind. Learn to forgive yourself deeply and quickly. Be really grateful and acknowledge all that God has given you. Avoid, negative self-talk. Instead boost your habit of positive self-talk. Spread kindness and be nice. Loose the arrogance and ego you might have, as much as possible. Positive thinking spreads to the subconscious and lights you up with its hidden glow. Smile more often. Better still laugh more and make other people laugh too. The list is endless.
Reap the benefits of a positive thinking mindset
To start with, you will turn into another person and a much more evolved calm and positive human being. This mindset will considerably reduce your stress and enhance your mental and psychological health. As mental health has a big impact on physical health you will find your immunity develop better. You will enjoy a better and improved cardiovascular health as your blood pressure gets lowered. You will also discover many other mental benefits which include better coping skills, better moods, greater problem-solving skills, greater creativity and clearer thinking, to name a few!
