If you define magic as a change where you are wrapped in your own world, then books are magical. In this era, it’s one of the best things we can do – to get lost. And, we got a glimpse of getting lost in the magic of books!

In a world where PR professionals are known for their finesse in managing public image, Amith Prabhu and Sujit Patil decided to flip the script with a book launch, that could only be described as a PR masterpiece!

On a Tuesday evening, the PR community gathered amidst the twinkling ‘book’ lights at Kunzum Books, DLF Mega Mall, Gurgaon. Why, you may ask? Well, that’s where the authors chose to unveil their latest work on Public Relations – “The Pursuit of Reputation: Unlocking the Power of Public Relations”. And how.”

Sujit Patil VP & Head, Corporate Brand & Communications Godrej Industries India recalled that the late Anant Rangaswami had given them the “nudge” through a Zoom call and “the nudge really worked on us”! Amith Prabhu, Founder of the PRomise Foundation and co-creator of PRAXIS, is the co-author.

It was an exciting exploration of “reputation”. We know that reputation has been widely recognised as one of the key foundations to build organisational success. And, when it is positive, it can do wonders!

Justin Green, President & CEO, Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, unveiled the book and formally declared that – “From today no other book is as important as ‘The Pursuit of Reputation’. For me, this book is the bible of everything that stands for Public Relations & Communications”. Carrying on, in the same biblical note he added that “Moses had come out with the Ten Commandments, and Amith and Sujit return today with ‘The Pursuit of Reputation”.

In the spotlight was 8-year old Myra, sharing her views on reputation as she declared – “Reputation is how others see us. It can be our best friend or our worst enemy! For a school-going child, reputation is everything.”

Nitin Mantri, Regional Executive Managing Director for Asia-Pacific, WE Communications, and the Group CEO of Avian WE said “The book is a great start to provide content to learners”. Along the same lines, Atul Sharma, President, PRCAI & Chief Executive Officer, Ruder Finn India noted that “The book is a good start for those starting their careers; it is a real beacon of life!”

Underlining the undisputed importance of reputation, Lloyd Mathias, an angel investor and business strategist pointed out – “Reputation is not a one-off process. It’s what you do throughout your life!”

The book was launched earlier in Mumbai. Bela Rajan, Founder & Director at Ketchum Sampark Public Relations had this to say – “The Pursuit of Reputation by Sujit Patil and Amith Prabhu is a MUST READ for all the aspiring Reputation professionals and all the other allied marketing professionals, that covers the entire gamut on PR and reputation management”.

This rendezvous wasn’t just fun and games. It symbolised the uncharted territory that modern PR professionals often find themselves in especially today, where creativity and innovation know no bounds. It looked like with their book, these authors aimed to spark a revolution in PR thinking. And, they indeed, kicked it off with a bang!

Guests met each other, as they eagerly picked up copies of the book. The event was a testament to the power of disruptive PR strategies, and the hashtags were flying high: #PRReimagined #BreakingTheMould #UnconventionalPR
