The Essence of Storytelling

The seven-year itch is a psychological term that suggests that happiness in a relationship declines after around year seven of a marriage. The phrase originated as a name for irritating and contagious skin complaints of a long duration. This year is the seventh edition of PRAXIS and we have tried our best to ensure fatigue does not set in by doing two or three things that are unique to the summit and very few other events can afford to pull off.

Non-repetition of venues, speakers and the concert are the highlights.

Every year we manage to get close to 30 speakers who go on the PRAXIS stage for the first time and in most cases the last time. The only exception we make is for a handful journalists. But when it comes to the PR and corporate communication professionals, this rule is applied with full gusto. To my mind that is why PRAXIS has survived though it is not an event by a media house or association.

This year the theme is the Essence of Storytelling and we have seven keynotes, continuing the tradition of matching the keynotes with the number of the edition. Five of the seven keynote speakers are global corporate communication directors of companies in the area of finance, agricultural science, travel services, automobile and technology which covers the entire gamut of industries we come across in our daily life. We also have two renowned practitioners with an academic leaning who will speak on Research and Digital. All in all, this edition promises to be a treasure house of knowledge for those of us who look at ourselves as storytellers, where the stories are authentic, transparent and credible. Storytelling in a way is the bedrock of Public Relations and of human existence.

The themes explore Storytelling in different shapes and forms including the power of digital medium in telling stories, reinventing how stories are told, storytelling in the world of travel and tourism, in the world of agricultural sciences, importance of research in storytelling, the future of storytelling and how brands tell stories in the age of fake news. We also have special addresses on measuring the impact of stories on business and on how diversity and inclusion are important for good stories to thrive.

We are gearing towards the end of September with little over seven weeks to go before the seventh edition. We hope we will stay the course and beat the seven-year itch to tell stories from this upcoming edition in the years ahead. Because never before has an Indian stage seen five powerful business storytellers come together and share stories of how they see the business evolving and what they do to manage the reputation of the oragnisations they work for.
