It’s the start of a new financial year. In many organisations it is appraisal time. Some people use this time for introspection. Over two dozen professionals have been having a conversation for a while where they have felt the need to come together as a diverse and inclusive group that gets together for growth and development. An idea of building a community has taken shape, a new concept that is unique is born. It is by, for and of the communication fraternity. There will be limited teams of two in the first phase that will gather in the respective metros in the first phase to interact with an expert. These sessions will free of cost with prior registration and will be exclusively available for members of the community.
In order to form this community pairs of professionals will come forward paying a one-time joining fee and an annual membership fee. The pair will work as a support system and can together offer each other mentorship as well as seek mentors from the larger fraternity to develop and grow. Reputation Today will support this voluntary formation by helping with coordination.
The concept is straight-forward. A team of two comes forward to request for membership. The team should comprise members from two different genders and they should include one from an in-house department (corporate communications) and one from a consultancy (PR firm). The first gathering will take place in Gurgaon on 8th May followed by the second one in Mumbai on 16th May and the Bangalore gathering in due course.
Members will have three direct benefits:
- The fee paid will be redeemable during the financial year for any of the Reputation Today properties
- The members will have access to at-least two free workshops in each of the metros
- Members will also have discounted access to international events by the Global Alliance
All members will get a specially designed membership card on completion of one year that will have its own set of benefits. The platform will work through volunteer support from among the members.
An important aspect of this initiative is to create a mentorship system in the future. There is no age-limit for membership. So, one junior team member may find the other senior team member good enough to be mentored by. Cross team mentorship is also possible. This is clearly not a networking initiative as there are ample opportunities for that available today. The idea will work well when various other associations and online formations collaborate. Crowd sourcing is at the core of this concept and it would be interesting to see how this shapes up.
